Music has always played an active and passion-filled role in the life of Alaina Halbur. Starting piano lessons at the young age of four, she always found a way to be involved in music and music making within the community. Before attending the University of Evansville for Music Therapy, Alaina was a student at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music studying under the musicianship of Dr. Andrew Miller. During her four years at the University of Evansville, she was a piano major under the instruction of Dr. Garnett Ungar, and a voice minor with Dr. Gregory Rike. Within the music program, she was the Jazz 1 Ensemble pianist, performed in both women’s and mixed choir, and became proficient in guitar and improvisational methods.
Alaina completed her clinical internship for Music Therapy at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City Missouri where she was able to provide Music Therapy to children with a variety of illnesses and disabilities. This included creating adapted methods for playing instruments, songwriting, teaching and providing lessons on guitar/ukulele/and piano to children who expressed interest. Her love for music radiates into her passion to help individuals reach their full potential by promoting their aspirations in music as well as personal growth.
