Following the completion of his degree, Alec taught band, orchestra, and general music for 2 years as a licensed PreK-12 music teacher. Today, he is still actively involved in schools as a private teacher, clinician, adjudicator, and music instructor. He maintains a private studio at Muncie Music Center and is a strong advocate for arts in the community. Being equally passionate about performance and community engagement, Alec accepted the position of Education Coordinator at the Muncie Symphony Orchestra in 2017. From 2012-17, Alec was the High Brass Counselor for Strings and Jazzy Things in Broadripple. Alec has worked for Music for the Sake of Music - a non-profit organization located in Green Bay, WI - since 2015 as their trumpet instructor and staff musician.
As a performer, Alec is versed in solo, chamber, classical, and commercial settings. He is an active soloist and chamber musician and is a strong supporter of modern music. In 2017, Alec was invited to perform the Haydn Trumpet Concerto in Eb with the MFSOM Symphony Orchestra. In the commercial vein, Alec played for the 2017 animated short-film, “Sea-Tectives,” and lead trumpet for the Norwell HS Show Choir since 2016. He frequently plays for pit orchestras as well, with notable performances as first trumpet in musical productions with both the Muncie Civic Theatre and BSU Theatre since 2015. While trumpet is Alec’s primary, he also enjoys guitar and singing. He has experience playing classical, jazz, rock, pop, and folk styles. Alec continues to perform originals and covers alongside Vibe Music Academy Flute Instructor, Jennifer Rodriguez. Outside of music, Alec enjoys playing video games, playing tabletop games, and visiting new breweries and coffee shops. Alec was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana, but currently resides in Muncie.
