Since starting the saxophone in 6th grade, Ethan Stutz has become a passionate supporter of the philosophy that everyone should get a chance to play, love, and grow with music. As a senior Music Education major at Anderson University, Ethan is 1st tenor sax player in the AU Jazz Ensemble and 1st alto sax player in the AU Wind Ensemble. In addition, Ethan has been a part of the Anderson Symphonic Choir and a soloist for the AU Orchestra under the direction of Gert Kumi. He has taken saxophone instruction under Dr. Becky Chappell, voice under David Mannell, and piano under Barb Klink and Rebecca Edie.
Ethan has performed as a 2nd alto saxophone player in the 2018 IMEA Intercollegiate Honor Band and has performed a Brahms concert with the AU Chorale and the Columbus (IN) Symphony Orchestra. Outside of academia, Ethan has been involved in other musical projects in the Indy area, including an experimental rock group, Blistering Phalanges, and a blues and rockabilly group, Retro on the Rocks, to help sharpen his skills. Entering his senior year, Ethan is hopeful and excited to pursue a career in High School Instrumental Education after graduating with a Bachelor’s in Music. He will be student teaching at Hamilton Heights HS in the spring and is excited for the many opportunities to grow as a musician and educator.
