Starting out with a Worship Ministry degree through Cincinnati Christian University, Matt is entrenched in the art of music by regularly playing for multiple churches as either a lead guitarist or piano player. He began his musical praxis at the age of 6 years old, learning fundamental music theory and classical piano. His musical abilities were tested in various competitions at a young age, where he won multiple first place awards. His German teacher was a dedicated role in his musical growth by not only showing him the virtue of music theory, but by accommodating Matt’s improvisational aspirations and perfect pitch. At the age of 11 years old, Matt also began to learn how to play guitar through multiple mentors, and he currently studies guitar players such as Tosin Abasi and David Maxim Micic.
Matt has also become accustomed to music outside of the Western world, due to occupational opportunities in Japan and Romania. Matt realizes the educational value of music and hopes for students and family to understand the cultural impact it can have; as a music instructor, he strives to teach students by accommodating their ways of learning - whether it be visual, auditory, or kinesiological means. He hopes for his students to not only have a music theory foundation, but to move beyond the books, and to develop a creative mind by eventually composing their own music. His aim is for all of his students to enjoy and connect with the music they play.
