Vibe Music Academy is a collective of music teachers in the greater-Indianapolis area that teach engaging private/group lessons and performance ensembles for students of all ages, whether they are beginners or advanced. Our music teachers teach from home or in students' homes (your choice - you also get to determine your own travel fee), and they set their own teaching schedule that works best for themselves and their students. Vibe teachers plan and implement a challenging and engaging music education curriculum that caters to the individual needs of each student, treating them not just as students, but as young musicians.


We are a growing collective of music teachers spread throughout the greater-Indianapolis area. Since we don't have a central studio location, our teachers teach either out of their own home studios, students’ homes, or at one of the several schools that we partner with. At Vibe, we value positive student experiences, strong educational community, effective teaching approaches, and expert music teachers.


1) Instruction of Music:

Students may be of any age (from Kindergarten through adult) or ability level. Though the majority of our music instruction is 30 minute private lessons, our teachers may also teach small group lessons or ensembles, and the duration may be 30, 45, or 60 minutes. You're free to utilize curriculums of your choosing, and are encouraged to customize your approach based on the the needs and interest of the student(s). Instruction occurs either in the personal studio of the teacher (home studio or otherwise), or teachers travel to students' homes (and charge a travel fee). We also have several school partnerships of various kinds that we send teachers into for lessons or small ensembles/sectionals.

2) Customer Relations and Scheduling Maintenance:

Our teachers maintain their own schedule directly with their students/parents, so you aren’t at the scheduling whim of the company you work for. Timeliness, dependability, organization, and great communication skills are crucial.

3) Consistent Communication with Team Leader:

Communication is everything, and at Vibe it works in both directions! Teachers are encouraged to be in frequent communication with their manager regarding scheduling, student progress, and really anything that relates to their well-being and success as a music teacher.


A Vibe Music Academy teacher should...

  • live within five miles of the specified area of the job posting,

  • have collegiate musical training on the specified instrument,

  • have taught and implemented their own lesson plans,

  • have experience playing music professionally,

  • know music theory and pedagogical approaches,

  • be able to help a wide variety of students excel musically,

  • have strong organizational skills and be fast communicators,

  • be resourceful and good at problem-solving,

  • be enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and positive.


Teachers are structured as Independent Contractors and are paid on a twice-monthly basis. Rate of pay starts at $25/hr of instruction and is negotiable based on qualification and experience. Additionally, a travel fee of up to $15 per lesson location may be elected by the instructor.
