The (Short, but Packed) Timeline of Vibe Music Academy

With the recent 20-month hiatus that we took from keeping up with this blog (hey, man, there's been a lot going on), we thought it'd be a fun idea to share some of the cool stuff that has happened since Vibe Music Academy was first dreamt up in Summer '15. Many of you were there - and who doesn't love a good trip down memory lane??

From the beginning...

June 2015

Vibe Music Academy was a mere conversation among friends (Eventual owner John Gotsis, and eventual funder Santi Jaramillo).

July 23, 2016

Launch party. Around 60 friends, family, and acquaintances came to eat, drink, swim, and enjoy music all while supporting the start of Vibe.

August 1, 2016

The first Vibe lessons ever taught. We started with 15 students total on the roster, taught by two instructors.

October 28, 2016

The first Vibe Community Event. Music, food, and games at one of our students' beautiful homes.

November 29, 2016

The first Vibe Recital Soiree, hosted at Harvest Bible Chapel North Indianapolis. 22 students performed.

December 2016 - March 2017

Vibe hires three new instructors and reaches 50 total students.

April 13, 2017

First Recital Soiree at Glendale Seventh-day Adventist Church. 40 students performed.

June 13, 2017

Adults in the Vibe community partake in the first of two complimentary nights on The Pint Cycle, a Fishers-based pedal pub.

August 1, 2017

Vibe is now 1-year old! In the first year, we taught over 1,600 lesson, peaked at 60 students, and had 8 instructors.

August 10, 2017

Summer '17 Recital Soiree.

September 2017

Started educational partnerships with THREE different schools, where we'd send in instructors to teach lessons or sectionals: The Oaks Academy, Indianapolis Junior Academy, and Holy Cross Lutheran School.

September 2017

We reached the aspired 100 student benchmark!

November 9, 2017

Fall '17 Recital Soiree - the premier performance of the first Vibe student ensemble, The Vibe Allstars.

February 15, 2018

Winter '18 Recital Soiree - back at the original, beautiful location of Harvest Bible Chapel North Indianapolis.

March 2018

Hit our highest student number to date - 143 students, being taught by 12 instructors all over town.

May 17, 2018

The largest Recital Soiree to date - 50 performers.

June 9, 2018

Summer Community Event - Music, swimming, games, food, and (mostly) beautiful weather.

July 9, 2018

Riley Hospital for Children, Nephrology Music Program kickoff. We provide bedside piano lessons to students who spend hours on kidney dialysis every week.

August 1, 2018

Vibe is 2 years old! In two years, we taught 5,335 lessons to 258 students, had 7 Recital Soirees for 17 total performance hours, had 26 different instructors, and hosted 6 Community Events.

August 15, 2018

The Summer '18 Recital Soiree.

Who knows where we'll be in the next two years. All we can say is that we're so happy to be helping so many students become musicians. Onward!
