Lauren Salmon is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Viola Performance at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music where she studies under Chicago Symphony principal violist Li-Kuo Chang. She also studied at IU for her Bachelor’s with former Philadelphia Orchestra principal Stephen Wyrczynski. During her time at Jacobs, Lauren has performed with the school’s Philharmonic, Concert, Chamber, and Symphony Orchestras. Additionally, she has played in six operas with the school such as The Magic Flute, Candide, and L’étoile. Over the summer she attends music festivals such as Green Mountain, and has performed in masterclasses for Susan Dubois, Karen Ritscher, and Michelle LaCourse. 

Born in Northern California, Lauren began her musical training at the age of eleven through the Creekside Middle School Orchestra Program. She then attended Carmel High School playing in the Philharmonic orchestra as principal viola her freshman year. By her high school graduation she had sat principal of Carmel High School Symphony and Camerata orchestras, principal of New World Youth Symphony Orchestra, and played in the Side-by-Side Program with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
