My earliest memories—sitting on a wooden bench playing the piano. Beginning piano lessons in third grade, I studied under the watchful eye of a wonderful piano teacher learning anything and everything I could get a hold of—from Bach to Stravinsky, Gospel to Country and Pop to Jazz. She patiently taught me the basics of music theory and how to skillfully create music from the instrument. The results—a lifelong, undying love for making and appreciating music!

My musical experience includes 10+ years of formal piano and vocal training. I’ve gained a wealth of experience (25+ years) through piano accompaniment, vocal ensembles and solo performances in school, churches, fairs and on television. Over the last few years, I’ve had the honor of sharing with others what I've learned by providing music lessons—and supporting them in achieving their musical goals.

In addition to loving all forms of music, I have a passion for teaching and helping others be the best they can be! Here are the basic tenets supporting my teaching philosophy: 1) Each student is unique with many strengths and challenges. I work with each individual in a way that best enables them to learn and experience joy and success along the musical journey; 2) All learning is based upon a solid foundation. Students begin to build that foundation from their first lesson. Lessons include music theory, the mechanics of playing the piano or singing and how to use that foundation to create music with confidence, creativity and expression; 3) Learning music is supposed to be fun! Although every music student will face frustration and challenges, I’m here to support your efforts and help you retain the joy in learning and performing music; and 4) Two-way communication between student (family) and teacher creates the best learning experience. I want to hear how you feel about what you are learning and how I can work to make it easier or more enjoyable for you to learn.
