He graduated from college with a BM degree in Music from Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In 2005 Darrel attended a clarinet teaching conference at Indiana University, Bloomington, IN, under the direction of Dr. Howard Kluge. He has been actively teaching and performing for over 40 years.

Darrel has taught beginners through advanced and feel comfortable teaching adults and people with disabilities.

My goal in teaching is to help students learn how to enjoy their instrument and to consider playing as something that they can do for the rest of their lives. This is accomplished through teaching students how to practice well. Each student is their own best teacher and knowing how to practice well means the student will usually play well. I would love to talk with you about starting lessons.
