Joseph Bandi has been an Assistant Director and Accompanist at Purdue Musical Organizations since August of 2022, working with the Purduettes, University Choir, Purduette Specialty groups, the Purduette Band, the Chamber Choir, and the All Campus and Community Chorale. Joseph has also worked with and accompanied for the Purdue Bells, Heart and Soul, and the Purdue Varsity Glee Club.

Prior to his start at Purdue, he spent five years teaching general music and choir to students in grades five through twelve where he had several award-winning ensembles and individual students achieving state honors before joining the staff at Purdue Musical Organizations. Several of his students also continued singing after their graduation and have become Music Educators themselves.

He has extensive work as an accompanist and church musician, currently serving as the Organist at St. Ann Church and Shrine in Lafayette, IN, and is a recognized “Associate Carillonneur” according to the North American Guild of Carillonneurs. Joseph has also competed and participated in several piano competitions and festivals, including the National Music Festival, as a semi-finalist in “The American Prize for Piano Performance”, and as one of sixteen world-wide accepted students to the Dublin International Piano Festival. He loves to teach private lessons and has maintained a private voice and piano studio for over ten years.

Upon his start at Purdue University, Joseph also started guest conducting and doing various clinics across the state of Indiana. Joseph completed two undergraduate degrees in piano performance and music education from Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA where he studied with Dr. Nancy Zipay DeSalvo. In May of 2024, Joseph completed a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Youngstown State University under the tutelage of Dr. Hae Jong Lee.
